Each year Hahira and the Honey Bee Committee prepare for the Honey Bee Festival held the first week of October.  It's an arts, crafts, beauty pageant and parade event.  the week long extravaganza was begun by Mamie Sorrell and Adeline Landrum in 1981.  The Honey Bee Committee members are called "BUSY BEES".  For the past twenty five years the festival has been one of the best in the southeast.  The city supports the festival with city services and employees.  More than 20,000 visitors were in town for the Honeybee Parade in 2006, including Shriners from all over the southeast.  It's touted as the best parade in GA.
