Library
This
modern branch library of the
South Georgia Regional
Library is located on East Main Street. The library acquired
its name from a former mayor and local businessman, and his wife who always
wanted a library for the community. When Mr. Salter died in 1984, his
dream unrealized, Mrs. Salter made a gift of $30,000.00. towards
their dream. The city then applied for and received a $312,429.00 grant
from the state. The library was constructed at a cost of $337,140.00
and was opened for business on December 12, 1988. It provides excellent
services to the community and affords wide access to additional library
resources.
